Marco Island

I had never been to Marco Island in Florida but thought it a good site for relaxing and enjoying the warmth during January.  The condo we rented is right on the beach and near a lagoon and bird sanctuary. The area has been excellent for birding at all times of the day, but especially in the morning and evenings.

Upon arrival, I encountered an osprey on a sign on the beach eating a recently caught fish.  He/she was fearless and I could approach very close for some pictures.  Many of the larger birds in the lagoon are also very tame, which has allowed some very close shots.
